| Our latest event took us way too far out of our comfort zones and scared the wits out even the most hardened of our Recruitment Consultants. Of course, there's always one..... |
| We spent 2 days in Snowdonia: First Canyoning (which involves traversing down gorges by abseiling down waterfalls, sliding down rock slides and rock climbing with no safety ropes). |
| This is before we knew what was going to happen... |
| HERE'S WHAT THEN HAPPENED...... |
| Traverse down the gorge through the freezing river....lots of hidden, slippery rocks... |
| 1st test was to get us all on this rock so we could jump off and finally get wet! It was a shock going completely under such cold water. |
| 2nd test: abseil through a waterfall into a deep freezing rockpool...a first for all of us. Everyone wanted to do it again having realised how they could now do it at speed second time around. |
| Not east unclipping the safety rope at the bottom! |
| 3rd test: slide down a natural rock slide into a rockpool. Sliding down was great fun. We all tried to climb the cliff face opposite but only David managed it...the rest of us fell off. We then climbed back up the slide. |
| 4th test: climb up the gorde face and jump 10 metres back down. The climb was treacherous as there was no grip and no safety rope. The jump was a real test of faith, it was a long way down. |
| As you can see.... |
| Back to top of gorge for lunch....which meant traversing all the way back up the river, over the hidden rocks (which we did much more deftly than on the way down given our new-found confidence and somewhat more dangerous experiences) then through the woods up the side of the gorge. We were already exhausted so reaching the top was a welcome relief. |
| We discovered Melissa had been training the dog to herd sheep! |
| Got in the minibus to go back to the house...got out...pushed it down the hill...got to bottom...bus broken! |
| Oh well.....what can you do?? |
| Next day we did this: Coasteering (which involves climbing up cliff faces from the sea and jumping back in from heights of up 13 metres, narrowly avoiding hidden rocks). This was dangerous because we wererock climbing up jagged rock with no safety ropes. Then jumping in but having to jump onto certain spots a long way down to avoid the underwater rocks. |
| It looks like it was easy....it took a long time before we were doing somersaults! |
| At the end...well and truly bonded :). We all want to go to the cinema instead next year. |
